Dental crowns have been used in dentistry for many years, but the techniques for fitting and the materials they are made of have continued to improve with new advances in dentistry. Consequently, you can expect your crown to be esthetic, long-lasting, and well-fitting.
Dental crowns provide a predictable, permanent solution to restore damaged teeth, offering strength and aesthetics. They can be custom-made to match your natural teeth, ensuring your smile looks great.
Fitting of Dental Crowns
The process for fitting a patient for a dental crown usually involves two appointments in our office. We will create a mold of your existing tooth and remove any decay in the first appointment. Then we will prepare the tooth to receive a crown. Since it usually takes several days to prepare your crown, we will fit you with a temporary crown during this first visit.
On your second appointment, we will gently remove the temporary crown and adhere the new permanent crown in its place. We will then make sure the fit and bite are correct. This may require some minor adjustments to the crown’s surface to make sure it fits perfectly with your upper teeth. This is a normal part of the procedure.
At Allen Dentistry, we often install porcelain dental crowns for our patients when a tooth has been broken or severely damaged by decay. Contact us today to schedule a visit to discuss whether a dental crown is the right solution for you.
